Thanks! >Cristian Sanchez cristians@arnet.com.ar you obviously didn't read my last reply :) liblug does what you want and provides a type independent interface (ie. you can just call 'openfile' or whatever without regard for the actual type be it jpg, gif,tiff etc...). the supported types are determined by you when you compile the library. if you want to do it the hard way then there are the libjpeg and libgif (IIRC) libraries it took me about 5 minutes using a 33.6k link to search alta vista for 'graphics libraries linux' and find a nice link : http://sal.jyu.fi/F/4/LIBGR.html no idea if it will actually do what you want because i hadn't even heard of that library until now but the description sounds absolutely perfect for you (don't know about gif support but i'm sure you could add that if you wanted to using the libgif library) there's a number of other promising links - just crank up netscape and go to your favourite search engine (try repeating my search on alta vista as well) hth ivan.
