High Res Vid Mode Malfunction

Hi,

I recently changed video cards and now in svgalib i _cannot_ get vidmodes >
640x480
ie,
    640x480        yes
    800x600        no
    1024x768      no
    etc                no

I checked the .conf file and added "modeline" 's as cut from X's but still
nothing my screen is giving garbage @ these resolutions even though they
work PERFECTLY under X.

I know I'm doing something wrong, but have never had the need to edit
svgalib's config myself.
