linear addressing on i810?

I recently found out that turning on linear addressing with
vga_setlinearaddressing() speeds up my code quite a bit on one computer,
but the other one, which has an i810 chipset, just gives me a black screen
now.  The proper CAPABLE_LINEAR flag is set after doing
vga_getmodeinfo() on the graphics mode that I want (G800x600x64K), yet
it doesn't work on that computer.

I'm using SVGAlib 1.4.3, perhaps someone knows if this works in the
newer development versions?
