Hi, I am using a HP Omnibook 6000 Notebook with the following graphic chipset: ATI Technologies Inc Rage Mobility P/M AGP 2x (rev 64) Without forcing a chipset in libvga.config vgatest uses the following configuration: Using RAGE driver, 8192KB. ChipID:35 MemType: 4 Rage: BIOS reports base frequency=59.000MHz Denominator= 64 svgalib 1.4.3 It seems like all video modes are not working properly with the Rage driver so I forced using VESA, which is working very good with high video modes (640x480x256 and higher) but these lower modes are not working: 1: 320x200, 16 colors (4 bitplanes) 2: 640x200, 16 colors (4 bitplanes) 3: 640x350, 16 colors (4 bitplanes) 4: 640x480, 16 colors (4 bitplanes) 5: 320x200, 256 colors (packed-pixel) 6: 320x240, 256 colors (Mode X) 7: 320x400, 256 colors (Mode X) 8: 360x480, 256 colors (Mode X) 9: 640x480, 2 colors (1 bitplane, monochrome) 32: 720x348, 2 colors (1 bitplane, monochrome) These modes show garbage on the screen, colorful snow. I think that's what you call "Out of sync" Most of these modes are rarely used, but Mode 5 is important to me. Even with forcing the "VGA" chipset this mode is not working. The same garbage on the screen. It looks to me as it has something to do with the number of colors. 320x200 with 16 Bit or higher is working properly, but 256 colors and lower are not working. What can I do to get these low video modes (or at least Mode 5) working? -- Bye, K <http://www.ailis.de/~k/> [A735 47EC D87B 1F15 C1E9 53D3 AA03 6173 A723 E391] (Finger k@ailis.de to get public key) ------------------------------------------------------------------ Unsubscribe: To: listbot@svgalib.org Body: unsubscribe linux-svgalib
