How can I install svgalib-1.4.3 into Linux-7.3 ( K2.4.7-10)?

I download the binary package, unzip it and copy the LIBs to /lib/. And when I compile the simple example, I get the error information that "_xstat unresolved". I think, it maybe incompatible version of libc, so I download the source package and make install, but it would not work.
  How can I do?
